At Humani Pilates, our goal is to not only give you a great workout but help you thrive. This means that transformations happen often.
Our community has many “transformation” stories, so we want to give you a little behind the scenes scoop about your teammates on the reformer next to you.
Each month, we’ll be highlighting one or two community members at Humani and letting them tell you how Pilates has helped them transform their lives.
Maria and Lito Cataylo started at Humani a little over 2 years ago with duets on every Friday night, as part of their date night. They are a joy to be around and have a lovely sense of humor, positive energy, and beautiful spirits. Maria is also hilarious and her laugh is contagious. These two are such an important part of Humani’s family.
Learn a little bit more about Maria and Lito Cataylo’s happy transformation:
When did you decide to try Pilates?
After evaluating many options last year (including consulting with our family physician) we decided that Pilates was the best fit for both of us – in terms of methodology, physical exertion, teachers, venue, and schedule.
What was life like before Pilates, what is life like now?
We tried gym memberships, home equipment and walking regimens but none worked consistently over a period of 1-2 months, Pilates was more of a conscious decision to commit to a structured lifestyle change – we know what we will be doing physically Friday afternoons and Sunday morning. We are exploring the need to increase the frequency to 3-4 days a week.
What advice would you give someone thinking of trying Pilates for the first time?
Try the free classes like we did, maybe consider doing the one on one training (multiple times until we reached a comfort level), then transition into the regular classes and keep going!
What is one thing your classmates should know about you?
We are both serious about Pilates and try hard to keep up (with the more advanced and younger students) but we are also having fun!
When not at Humani, where are we most likely to find you?
What class at the studio is your favorite? Why? (Joy, Balance, Reboot, Energy, Bliss)
We especially like the Reboot, there is definitely perceivable benefit from the floor stretching exercises
What is your favorite piece of equipment? Why? (Mat, Reformer, or Chair)
The reformer without a doubt, have not had the chance to do chair exercises as much though…..
Stay tuned, we’ll be sharing more happy transformations with you each month.
