The Next Machines 101 Class

Our next Machines 101 intro class for new students is on Saturday, May 4th at Noon

(sign up opens on 4/20)

Where to Start

We recommend new students begin with the Machines 101 class (offered 2x/month), the Foundations Level 1 class, or Private Training.

Below you’ll find our studio policies and important class info.

  • Machines 101 Intro: Perfect for brand new students, beginners, or those new to our studio and/or equipment. Offered 1-2 times monthly.

Level 1 Foundations: perfect for students who are new to the practice, those who have been practicing Pilates for less than a year at Humani, or those who want to focus on fundamentals.

All Levels classes are mixed level classes, which includes people at various stages of functional skill development and experience with Pilates. These classes are taught at a beginner to intermediate level, providing various movement options for various points on your movement journey. These classes move at a faster pace and are more complex in choreography than Level 1 classes.

Level 1.5 and Level 2 classes: are intermediate to advanced levels only. They go into more advanced choreography and exercise transitions. In order to keep a moderate pace through class, you are required to attend multiple All Levels classes before joining Level 1.5 or 2 —even if you’ve done Pilates elsewhere before joining our studio.

Important: during Level 1.5 (intermediate) and Level 2 (advanced) classes, students will be guided through all planes of movement, including standing, kneeling, sitting, weight bearing on wrists and knees, and laying on the stomach, chest, and back.

Because the choreography is complex, for your safety and the faster flow of the class, we ask that you are able to bear full weight on all portions of your feet and wrists (i.e. planks).

If any of those positions are uncomfortable for you, or you are actively working through injuries, attend our All Levels classes instead.

  • Equipment Classes: use Pilates machines for a comprehensive workout.

Mat Classes: focus on full body functional movement using body weight and occasional props.

We have various class types, each providing a unique experience.

Read our class descriptions for details about each class.

  • Mindbody Online: use our website to connect to the Mindbody system to create an account, purchase classes, and book your spot. You can use our site to book your sessions, or download the MindBody app on your phone.

Scheduling: registration opens two weeks in advance (at midnight). If a class is full, join the waitlist.

  • Automatic Notification: if a spot opens, you'll be notified via text message. Confirm within 2 hours to secure your place. If you do not confirm within 2 hours of receiving your text, your spot will be automatically given to the next person in line.

Day-Of Availability: check for last-minute openings; spots often become available the same day.

  • Comfortable Attire: yoga or Pilates pants/leggings and tanks or tees recommended.

Footwear: Barefoot or socks with grips are ideal.

  • First-Timers: arrive 5-10 minutes early for a brief studio tour and to settle in.

In general, we unlock the front door 10 minutes before a group class, or 5 minutes prior to a private session. If you get to your class more than 10 minutes early, there is a chance the door will still be locked.

  • We cannot accommodate arrivals more than 10 minutes late.

  • Inform Us: email us about any injuries or if you're pregnant.

Prenatal Policy: all pregnant students are required to schedule a private session during their second trimester (14 – 27 weeks) before continuing on with regular group classes.

Visit our prenatal page for resources and info about our upcoming prenatal specific classes. You can also e-mail schedule@humanistdudios.com for availability.

Private Sessions: recommended for those with specific injuries or chronic pains and aches before attending group classes.

  • Group class cancellations: Humani has a 12 hour cancellation policy for group classes. Cancellations made within the 12 hour window are considered early, and can be rescheduled.

Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the start of class, are considered late, and will be deducted from your account. If you are not going to make it to class, cancel at your soonest convenience to allow another student to take your spot.

No Shows: Absences to class without a cancellation (i.e. “no-show’s) result in forfeiting the class and an additional $10 fee.

Private session cancellation policy: Private, semi private, and private event sessions have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Log into your online account to make the cancellation in real time. Do not email a cancellation request to ensure that it is processed right away (during the cancellation window).

If you need to cancel or miss your session outside of the 12 hour window, you will be charged for the full cost of the session or one will be deducted from your package.

Good things to know.

The waitlist works! If a class is full, sign-up on the waitlist. Waitlists can accommodate up to 5 people.

As soon as a spot opens up, you’ll be notified via text and you’ll respond to confirm your spot in the class.

When there are additional people on the waitlist behind you, unconfirmed waitlisted spots will be given away after two hours – even if you saw a text and responded after the two hour deadline.

Note* purchase a class before adding yourself to the waitlist – if you don’t get into the class, that class will stay on your account.

If you get into a class, make sure you cancel any other waitlisted classes you’re in for that day.
